Rivers State Governor, Chief Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has denied membership of
any secret cult group in the country while kneeling in front of an altar during
a church service in Port Harcourt.
Governor Amaechi, who made this declaration yesterday while testifying at two separate church services at the Abundant Life Evangel Mission and the Liberation Power Ministry in Port Harcourt, yesterday, as a mark of appreciation to God for his victory, explained that in his entire life, he has never associated with any group whose activities were not open or in line with activities of the church of God.
Kneeling before the congregation, Governor Amaechi said, “I tell you before the Altar of God and before the God that created me and you, that 1 have never belonged to any secret cult”.
“Believe me from my childhood till now, 1 believe in nothing else outside God. 1 have never tried any other power because 1 believe that if you have power to do anything extraordinary, the first thing you will do is to line up your pocket but you can see that native doctors are not very rich, that means that they don’t have such powers; that means there is no other power than that of God”, Governor Amaechi emphasised.
The governor, who said that the identity of those who belong to secret cults in the state would soon be made known, also told the congregation that he has forgiven those who betrayed him in the course of his struggle to reclaim his governorship mandate.
The state governor attributed his victory at the Supreme Court, which restored his governorship mandate, to the power of God and the potency of prayers.
Governor Amaechi, who said an important lesson learnt during his travails was that of prayers, observed that God allowed something to happen in order to teach him a lesson, make him a better Christian and show him those who were truly his friends.
He said one of the things he had asked from God is the courage to keep his vow, which includes worship God, serve the poor and support the church.
Governor Amaechi used the opportunity to commend the Supreme Court for standing for the truth and restoring the hope of the common man, and the church for their prayers, and enjoined the church to pray for the success of his administration.
The state chief executive said his administration would give attention to the poor and needy in society, and expressed his determination to give the people purposeful and God fearing leadership anchored on truth, service and integrity.
In his sermon, the Founder and General Overseer, Abundant Life Evangel Mission, Apostle Eugene Ogu, told Governor Amaechi to beware of rumour mongers and sycophants, describing them as agents of destruction.
Apostle Ogu also described the victory of Governor Amaechi at the Supreme Court as a lesson to all Christians to be steadfast in their hope in God, explaining that as a servant of God he should always stand by the truth.
He commended Governor Amaechi for demonstrating love and forgiveness through his inaugural speech, by declaring that there was no victor no vanquished.
He said the church would continue to pray for the administration in order to ensure that his dreams for Rivers State are realised.
On his part, the founder and General Overseer of Liberation Power Ministry (EJA-FORCE), Rev Odede Stephen, who tagged his sermon “the return from captivity,” said the victory of Governor Amaechi calls for celebration.
He said as Christians, destiny can be delayed, not denied, and gave an assurance
that the church would continue to pray for the government and the state.
