In separate statements, yesterday, Sir Nnam Obi and Dr Isokrari described the Supreme Court judgement on the matter as an act of God, adding that God was infallible in all His ways.
Speaking, Sir Chukumela Nnam Obi gave thanks to God for using President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and the Supreme Court as veritable vehicles for truth, wisdom, justice and rule of law, which he said, were the bedrock of democracy.
Oba Nnam Obi noted that those who abide by the law are honest, trustworthy, understanding, loving and fair in their dealings with people and situations, and urged Governor Amaechi to put the past behind him.
The monarch stated that having exhibited commitment, competence, focus, listening ear, vision and charisma as a, speaker for eight years, Governor Amaechi will conduct the affairs of Rivers State with maturity and equanimity, and propel it to greater heights.
He said the expectations of Rivers people were very high for the young governor, and expressed optimism that the people’s yearnings and aspirations would be met by the Amaechi-led administration.
Oba Nnam Obi called on traditional rulers in the state to rally round the new governor to move the state forward, and prayed God to grant him the wisdom and strength to successfully pilot the affairs of the state.
Also, speaking, the trustee of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Chief Isokrari described the judgment as a victory for the Rivers people over excesses, arbitrariness and recklessness of a few individuals who desired to perpetuate the evil of impoverishment on the Rivers people.
The Kalabari high chief said the outcome of the verdict was a victory for democracy and affirmation of the hope of Nigerians on the rule of law and the judiciary.
He called on the people of the state and members of other political parties to sink their differences and partner with Chief Amaechi to establish a people-oriented government that would return the state to its past glory.
