Monarchial System of Rulership in Ogbaland: The Ogba Council of Chiefs position.

There is a Monarchial system of rulership in Ogbaland which functions as follows:

  1. Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland: The paramount ruler and custodian of the peoples customs and tradition who is also the Spiritual Leader/Head of Ogbaland-(First class Traditional ruler/King)
  2. Eze Ohali:A kindred stool of Umu-Ohali with specific function of crowning the Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland after which he retires to his seat in the Oba's palace. Therfore has no Palace or Council of Chiefs of its own, though a (Second Class) Chief limited to representing UmuOhali kindred. Furthermore, the position is like that of a Chief judge of any State, who after swearing in the Governor, falls back within the Governors Cabinet and therefore cannot control the State as governor nor classifies himself as equal to the governor.Within the formation of the English monarchy, the Archbishop of Canterbury after crowning the Queen of England, retires to his seat at the Queen's Palace as second class. He neither becomes the Queen nor second in command and does not create a cabinet of his own.
  3. Eze-Nwadei Ogbuehni: A kindred Chieftaincy title of umu-Enyike kindred and ought to be a member of the Oba of Ogbaland's Cabinet as representing his kindred; though a Second Class Chief, the position is limited to a kindred representative. The Oba in Council strongly request that the Eze-Ohali/Eze Nwadei Ogbuehni be made to understand that their titles are only limited to their kindreds because the word ; Eze Ohali is clear enough and stands for Umu- Ohali kindred. The same is applicable to the Eze Nwadei Ogbuehni and therefore, they should be made to detach the Eze- Ogba/Eze-Ogba Buruzorchni which they arrogate to themselves since that is not part of their Chieftaincy formation (see Rivers State Chieftaincy Gazette Edict No 2. of 1979). The Oba (Eze-Ogba) of Ogbaland is the only one entitled to Eze-Ogba hence the Leader/King of the Ogba people and a First Class, (Paramount/Spiritual Leader) and as well has right to exercise his authority/influence over every one (see Gazette)N/B The Oba (Eze-Ogba) is from Umuebe but not limited to Umuebe.
