According to a statement signed by the State Chairman of the NUJ, Mr. Bennett Kalio and the Secretary, Mr. Reward Akwu, the Union noted that since the Oba ascended the throne of his fore-fathers over three decades ago he had led a life of service to his people and humanity in general.
The Rivers NUJ described the Eze Ogba as a fore-most traditional ruler who had projected the custom and tradition of the Rivers people in a most fashionable manner to the admiration of all and sundry.
The Union added that the Eze Ogba had brought honour and dignity to the traditional institution in the State with his exemplary life-style.
The Rivers NUJ expressed
gratitude to God for making it possible for the Oba to witness his 64th birthday
and prayed for long life and more fruitful years ahead.
