LG council set to meet Omehia’s expectations

The Chairman, Care-Taker Committee, of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, Hon. Emmanuel Kegunani has assured the people of the local government area that he and members of the committee were ready to surpass the target set for them by Rivers State governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, when they were inaugurated in June.

Hon Kegunani gave this assurance when he and members of the Care-Taker Committee as well as some other key officers of the council paid a courtesy call on the Ogba Monarch, Dr. Nnam Chkumela Obi II in his palace at Omoku.

The chairman informed the monarch that the purpose of the visit was “to enable his Eminence physically know and interact with those entrusted with the interim leadership of ONELGA as chairman and members of the Transition Committee” and hoped that the Oba would be gracious to allow his committee draw from his flowing fountain of knowledge and wisdom in the act of administration, governance and leadership of the council within the transition.

Responding, Oba Chukwumela Nnam Obi II, a first class traditional ruler in ONELGA and a former Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, thanked the chairman and members of the Care-Taker committee for the visit. He congratulated members of the committee for their appointment. The highly respected Ogba Monarch charged the Care-Taker Committee to use the transition period to ensure effective change in the local government area, stressing that it is necessary for any transition government to strive to lay a solid foundation for the incoming administration, and promised to assist them succeed.
