Ake emerges victorious at appeal court

ederal constituency has in the judgment of last Thursday April 10, 2008 emerged victorious at the Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt. Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt Senator Ake said earlier he was most optimistic of having victory in the case before the Appeal Court. The Senator said he expressed happiness when the court upheld his victory as the winner of last year's April Election. It would be recalled that victory of Senator Ake in last year's general election was challenged by Elder Doctor I. A. Obuzor before the election tribunal in Port Harcourt shortly after the election. He explained that after the tribunal had ruled in his favour, Dr. Obuzor he challenged the ruling by appealing against the said judgment, saying that because he won landslide, he again defeated him. He said “As King David defeated Goliath, so was their case, have a man whose hands are clean as the saying goes with eat with kings. Meanwhile, in recognition of his modest and transparent in nature, Senator Ake bagged an ambassadorial peace award on the 6th of April 2008 during the 49th true parents day celebration by the Universal Peace Foundation. This award, it was further stated was as a result of his human and philanthropic nature particularly for his widowhood foundation, which has been transforming many homes in recent times. As an ambassador of peace, he called on the people of Rivers West Senatorial district to always eschew violence in the state. The Ambassador who spoke on the negative effects of violence said only peace would bring about fast development in the state.
